Fuck.
No really... FUCK.
This is a brief recap about something that could have potentially been the end of this blog a day after it was supposed to be created. And I'm not in the best knowledgeable sense of mind because it's really 4:31am and I'm typing this because I failed my 365 a day into it. You see, we've been having such a laid back day at the hotel here, that the track of time just got pushed aside and forgotten for a good... Say... 8-10 hours.
And what's ironic about this is me and Steph were sitting on the set of stairs at the A entrance just before I blurted out... "FUCK!", and in surprise she asked me "What?!"... I had forgot to put up a blog about the first day of the new year. I FORGOT. TO BLOG. ABOUT THE FIRST DAY. OF THE NEW YEAR.
Fuck my life, right? Steph to the rescue yet again. So we proceed to sit there in amazement at my stupidity, no less... And we decide it's time to return upstairs to the room. But alas, I have not forgotton, now it's time to start this off with a real kick. Hopefully due to my lack of intelligence due to my brain being fried, I'll actually finish this before I doze off in this pathetic excuse of an office chair.
So, the new year is here, 2010. Hope you all had a great one. Did anyone make any type of resolution? Any type of plans for the year? Maybe getting in touch with an old friend, or being nicer to your family? Losing weight? Stopping that bad habit you've been told to for some time now? Either way, I've wanted to make a resolution for a while now and actually stick to it... There's been a good few years where I wanted to step it up and do something that actually was within my boundaries... And weight and health just seemed like the right candidate for the position.
For a bit of a recap that wasn't ever recapped... Let alone capped for that matter (Seeing as this is a whole different blog, a whole different set of background references to me are in order... But you'll get the picture eventually I think). Basically, the other day I went to the store with my mom and my sister, apparently, my High Blood Pressure was higher than normal, a whopping 182/102. That worries me, and makes me want to step it up a bit and actually try to make my Hypertension more manageable, or disappear completely. Let's try to make it more manageable at first... I have an appointment later this month where I am going to get checked for a few things, and that has been added to the priority list. I've never been on any meds for it, but I sincerely hope I get something at least.
Due to that, and my families background with heart problems and other illnesses, I want to get healthier, and lose some weight. My dad has been dead for a few years now, and I'm worried my mom won't be around years from now to see me get married and have some kids for her to see grow up. Either way, I should be put into the spotlight, it's my life, and I want to get better at living it. I want to live a long and productive life, you know? I want to be happy... Or should I say, happier. To be able to see the world, and all of it's massive and beautiful boundaries. Maybe I should make and accomplish a Bucket List, but I'm not ready to start that journey just yet.
Either way, here's what happened with New Years.
Since you won't be aware, we've been living in a hotel room in New Kensington the past few weeks. We're trying to finalize everything on a house, because we've basically been "Homeless" since April. We've had places to go and they weren't always the greatest, but they were places either way, even if we didn't care for them or the people who were there with us. I recently got my voucher from Section 8, and those who are against it, don't bother knocking it because they're helping me out. I got the voucher in October, and we found a place in December. We've been talking to someone who helps run a Church Shelter, and she provided us the hotel room until the house is finalized - which should have been January 1st (The start of my 365). So we're still here, and this is where New Years took place, since we've been here the past few weeks.
Steph, my girlfriend since you aren't aware of that either, came down. My mom instead of staying with us went to Nick's place. He's one of the people we stayed with this year since we haven't had a home. He was nice, but he had his skeletons and secrets in his closet. Turns out he's a sex offender, and while I won't go into details about it, mom decided to go be with him for the holidays instead of us. Go figure, eh? So Steph came here to celebrate with me and my sister. She brought us some food, and some alcohol of course, since she's the best and we needed some of it to begin with. She came Wednesday night, and we've spent a lot of time inside the hotel room either watching movies or munching on junk food and other instant meals. We went out and ran some errands the past few days, like prepping for New Years, and just general shopping too.
New Years wasn't the greatest, I'll admit, but we made do with what we had. We made every single meal in the microwave, and while it was cooked it was relatively luke warm... Not the greatest, but the potatoes were amazing dispite being microwaved... Not to mention soggy butter, mmm mm good, right? Maybe a bit too much information, who cares. Dinner was alright when it was finally made though... We needed to make everything around 11pm because we walked up to Sunoco to get Mustard. Steph refused to eat her Hot Dog without Mustard, haha, so we walked there to get it instead of driving - We all already started getting fucked up prior to cooking, probably a big no no, but the walk was pretty good. Not that far, it was about half a mile or so. We got it and went back to the hotel and cooked everything up. We didn't get done with everything until after midnight, so we had to stop, toast and wish each other a Happy New Year, and then provide hugs and kisses since that's what everyone does.
Tradition went Pork, Sauerkraut, Mashed Potatoes, and a New Years Pretzel. We added in Hot Dogs and Kielbasi. The funny thing about the Pork though was we were afraid to buy some and cook it in the microwave since we had no oven access. So we just went and bought ourselves some cooked ones at a local grocery store on New Years Eve... The funny thing about it though, was we wrapped it and threw it in this makeshift refrigerator that Nick provided for us a few days prior - A big Tupperware container filled with ice. I can sense Jeff Foxworthy working up a redneck joke right now for that one, haha... But uh, yeah, we stored it in there, and went to cook it around midnight. Little did we know it was shredded pork sandwiches... So we had to pick all the soggy bread off. Ugh... Fail John, major fail. It turned out to be barbecued pork, and quite tasty too.
Nick called after midnight to continue the tradition, which was a guy always calls the woman after midnight to make sure she has good luck in the new year. So he called the hotel room and Bethy answered, providing that to her, but no one could call Steph. I wanted to, but we can't dial out on our phone... you need to prepay it to do so, and we never did, so I needed to find a payphone. We went to the front desk and the woman there said we couldn't use the phone there, and didn't provide us any direction to find ourselves a payphone either. She said to check Giant Eagle out for one, but as we all know they'd be closed. We walked back the same was a second time... The first time was for the Mustard, and this time was for a stupid supersitious reason which was finding a payphone to provide my girlfriend good luck for the year. We get across the first parking lot, past the Giant Eagle and Steph wants to stop looking and go back to the room. Now, mind you, I wasn't about to turn around to go back until my mission was accomplished. Being that I was drinking, and a tad goofy, I did nothing but complain in about the tradition being stupid and aggreeing with here the whole damn walk. We aggreed on it but I still wanted to do it.
Either way, there was a shining light! About two massive parking lots later we find one payphone next to a Kmart, and I walk over and call her number just to get a price I need to pay for the call. I had 70 cents on me, and the damn operator said I needed 80! HAHAHA!!! So I needed to ask her for a dime, and I called her. We talked for about five minutes, and she answered with the most awesome phone answering line and I'll need to get back to you on what it was.
After the call was made, we walked back, me still cursing the stupid tradition. But we had fun, went back and ate more, and just had a nice relaxing New Years Eve/Day celebration with me and her, and my sister. We got to watch Shaun Of The Dead, finally, she's never seen it before and she really liked it too. We watched the new Family Guy Star Wars Special... Something, Something, Something, Dark Side. And we also went out and rented Left 4 Dead 2. Since her dad was nice enough to let her bring the TV he wanted to give me, it worked with the Xbox 360, and we hooked it all up and Bethy had something fun to do for a while. Today though, being the 1st, we didn't do much. We slept in, we all had a lot to drink the night before of course, and the mood was nice and relaxing we just wanted to sleep.
We missed the damn free Breakfast this morning because Steph didn't want to jump on me and wake me up :) (Yeah hun, I put this here intentionally, haha!)... No really, it was free and we probably wouldn't have liked it anyway, no big deal babe. It's just been a laid back day today. We finished up the Family Guy Special that we've been watching in pieces. 13 minutes here, another 11 here... We finally finished it and liked all of it. Steph's never seen The Empire Strikes Back so I'm sure when she finally does she'll understand the references to it more. Then we spent all night just sitting around eating leftovers, and playing games. Me and Bethy played Left 4 Dead 2 for a good 8 hours, beating each campaign on Easy just for fun. And Steph was on the laptop for that duration of time playing on zOMG. Which was a good reason as to why I forgot about this until now, we were all doing our own thing and enjoying it too.
That's about it though, other than the fact I'm leaving in the morning to go back to her place. Her dad's allowing me over, and she's working today (Saturday). She's off Sunday and Monday, so I'll be spending it with her at her place. I don't know what we're going to be doing, but I'm sure it'll include Guitar Hero, going places, and lots of extracurricular activities, haha... Bethy will be here playing Left 4 Dead 2, and my mom is supposed to come back later tomorrow night to be with Bethy. The caseworker from the shelter is supposed to be back in the office today, so we're looking into extending the hotel stay for a week or so until the house is finalized. The house wasn't completely done yet, and we need the hotel room because we won't really have any other place to go until the house is done and inspected for us to start moving in.
So I hope it all goes well. I really want a fucking hoagie... Ugh, I'm going to curl up next to Steph ;) Catch you on the flip.
Welcome to 2010 kids, strap yourselves in and enjoy the ride.
Simple Edit:
Forgot to mention we got ourselves the Left 4 Dead 2 Baseball Bat off of Ebay for $10, because they were mostly sold out. I had asked mom to get it for us earlier tonight, because I didn't get a chance to pre-order it when it first came out. We don't really need it, but it'd help our Left 4 Dead 2 gameplay runs :). I tried to explain what it did to Steph, and as you can see I was pretty damn tired, here's how it went.
"The good thing about the baseball bat is that it automatically incapacitates the zombies"
"Automatically decapitates babe..."
"Right, decapitates. See, told you I'm too damn tired to make any sense"
"Hahaha"

Needs moar... [Poll 2/10]
Me and Steph
One of the best pictures of us, I really like this one, and try to use it whenever I can.
About Me
John doesn't do much in his everyday life. He tends to sit at home all day going on zombie killing rampages with his sister. He hates his life, and the way it's been going the past few years, and seriously hopes 2010 will bring him better luck. He is obsessed with Iced Tea, and if it were a drug he would have overdosed when he first drank it. John considers himself a "Corny Cracker", and in his spare time likes to make stupid videos for his You Tube channel. He has a loving girlfriend named Steph and a cat named Lucifer, who's name fits his attitude very very well.
